This section comprises the following locomotives:
a) foreign locomotive classes never placed in traffic in Finland
b) three former VR locomotives surrendered to the USSR in 1940 but later repatriated
c) one locomotive owned by the Enso factory, bought from VR
d) one Latvian locomotive of the same type as VR class K3/Tv1.
All of these are listen on the next page. At least two broad gauge and about 45 narrow gauge industrial locomotives were found on territory occupied by Finnish troops but these were not taken into stock to VR.
Tampella built six SVR K3 type locomotives for stock in 1920–22 (works numbers 304/1920, 305–307/1921 and 308–309/1922). These were sold to Latvia in 1922, where they were put into service in August 1922 as class Dk and numbered 159, 160, 155–158 respectively. Of these, the frames, wheel sets and boiler of Dk 160, together with tender 0160, were shipped to Finland by the Germans,
arriving on 31 August 1943. This locomotive was repaired at the VR Helsinki works and went into service as class Tv1 and numbered 1299. When Tv1 no. 596 had to be abandoned on the battlefield in 1944, its number was given to no. 1299. In Finland no. 1299/596 carried a Tampella builder’s plate displaying the year 1924 but no serial number. The origins of the widely perpetuated belief, at least in Finland, that this loco was Tampella 306, are thus unknown.
